Jacob grew up around rental property in Louisville, Kentucky, where he met his wife, Gabby. Together they're first-generation rock climbers, rappellers, canyoners, and hiking enthusiasts — the kind of people who plan vacations around a trailhead. Once they started having children, they knew they wanted to pass that love of rock sports on to the next generation.
That's what led Jacob and his climbing partner, Brian, to a simple idea: acquire and protect a piece of this natural beauty for themselves. They purchased a private rock wall and began building a cabin — a place that would let them keep climbing through every stage of raising kids.
What they didn't expect was how hard it would be to manage a rental cabin from a distance. So Jacob and Gabby made the call to go all-in: they moved to "the Red" and started a management company built around what actually mattered to them — family-friendly stays, safety, locally sourced building materials, and outdoor features guests could reach on foot. They also made it a point to bring local products, consumables, crafts, and activities into the guest experience, so a stay with The Red Cabins always feels connected to the place itself.
Hiking, climbing, relaxing and enjoying locally grown foods are just some of the things offered in Red River Gorge, but now The Red Cabins brings it all to your cabin. Our cabins have private climbing walls, nature trails, and waterfalls, and we also provide your cabin with Appalachian Proud, KY Proud, Farmer's Market, and local goods and products to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
